Somaliland President, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo has pardoned a journalist who was jailed after he was convicted of overtly rallying support to Mr. Farmajo, the recently elected president in war torn Somalia.
Mr. Abdimalik Muse Oldoon, a freelance journalist, was jailed in April this year and was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment.He was also accused of committing conspiracy against the nation of Somaliland mainly of treason acts.Former Somaliland government minister has posted the pardon letter from the presidency in his facebook account.
The journalist has been released under compassionate ground from the Head of State of Somaliland His excellency Ahmed Silanyo.The former minister spearheaded efforts in securing the release of the journalist who spent one month and half in captivity over treason acts.
