The deputy Prime Minister of the federal Republic of Somalia accompanied by the Ministers of Information, Agriculture and Mogadishu mayor, have on Sunday seen off a national level delegation to Hargeisa.
This delegation will be handing over $1 million dollars to the government of Somaliland which is battling with people who are in stern drought situation in some regions in Somaliland.
The notable figures in this delegation are the chairman of the Somali chamber of commerce Mr. Abdikarim Gabeyre, the deputy chairman of the Somali religious umbrella Sheikh Noor Baruud, Mohamed Hassan Haad a traditional elder and some members from the civil society group.
“We are here today to see off a delegation which will be leaving to Somaliland and this delegation consists of diversity of people from the different sectors in the community, and their main reason of travelling to Somaliland is to hand over donation of $1 million to the government of Somaliland. There is prolong drought which has stricken in some parts of Somaliland, and people are dying of starvation they get hardly anything to eat and on top of that they have no livestock left for the nomadic.” Said Omar Arte Qalib Somalia’s deputy Prime Minister.
Honorable Arte has added that this money is contributed by the President of Somalia, the Speaker of the Parliament, the parliamentarians, the civil servants, and still there is expectation of contribution from the Somali people to be received
This donation coincides when there is a vast drought which has engulfed in some regions in Somaliland, and has at large affected both the people and the livestock.
